The Explorer Society
In order to even be able to get to Yalahar, you will need to have completed the first mission of the Explorer Society Quest.
The Way to Yalahar
Go to Wyrdin in Edron, you can find him in the Ivory Towers here:

Ask him for a mission.
Chatlog
You: Hi Wyrdin: Hello, what brings you here? You: Mission Wyrdin: There is indeed something that needs our attention. In the far north, a new city named Yalahar was discovered. It seems to be incredibly huge. ... Wyrdin: According to travellers, it's a city of glory and wonders. We need to learn as much as we can about this city and its inhabitants. ... Wyrdin: Gladly the explorer's society already sent a representative there. Still, we need someone to bring us the information he was able to gather until now. ... Wyrdin: Please look for the explorer's society's captain Maximilian in Liberty Bay. Ask him for a passage to Yalahar. Once there, visit Timothy of the explorer's society and get his research notes. ... Wyrdin: It might be a good idea to explore the city a bit on your own before you deliver the notes here, but please make sure you don't lose them. You: Bye
Now head for Liberty Bay, go to Captain Max and ask him for a passage to Yalahar (note: it will cost you 500gp, 400gp for people who did the postman quest, do the "Searoutes around Yalahar" mission to unlock other boat routes).
Go to the north, you will find an NPC called Timothy.

Chatlog
You: Hi Timothy: Oh, hello! It's a pleasure to see a visitor from the continent. You: Research Notes Timothy: Oh, didn't I mention it? A friend of mine, a local officer named Palimuth, needs some assistance. Maybe you are interested in this job! You: Bye
Searoutes around Yalahar
If you do this mission, you can travel to Yalahar from various other Tibian cities, and you don't have to pay 500gp to Captain Max every time.
To start this mission, go to Captain Karith, which can be found east of Captain Max. Talk with him like this:
Chatlog
You: hi Karith: Hello! Tell me what's on your mind. Time is money. You: passage Karith: I see no reason to establish ship routes to other cities. There is nothing that would be worth the effort. ... Karith: But since you won't stop bugging me, let's make a deal: If you can prove that at least five of your so-called 'cities' are not worthless, I might reconsider my position. ... Karith: Bring me something SPECIAL! The local bar tenders usually know what's interesting about their city. You: bye
Karith wants you to bring 5 items from different cities. To save up money, you can buy these items before you travel to Yalahar.
You need to buy 5 of the following 8 items:
Ab'Dendriel: Bottle of Bug Milk (Brasith)
Ankrahmun: Jug of Embalming Fluid (Mehkesh)
Carlin: Bowl of Evergreen Flowers (Florentine)
Darashia: Sample of Sand Wasp Honey (Omur)
Liberty Bay: Rum Flask of Rum (Lyonel)
Port Hope: Elephant Tusk (loot from Elephant)
Thais: Piece of Royal Satin (Gamon)
Venore: Sample of Venorean Spice (Rodney or Livielle)
Once you've bought 5 of the items, go back to Karith and say the names of the cities where you bought the items. Now you can travel to different cities with Karith.
Mission 1: Something Rotten
You can find Palimuth in the building right of Timothy, go there and talk with him.
Chatlog
You: Hi Palimuth: Greetings. You: Mission Palimuth: You probably heard that we have numerous problems in different quarters of our city. Our forces are limited, so we really could need some help from outsiders. ... Palimuth: Would you like to assist us in re-establishing order in our city? You: Yes Palimuth: I'm pleased to hear that. We rarely meet outsiders that care about our problems. Most people come here looking for wealth and luxury. ... Palimuth: However, I have to tell you that our ranking system is quite rigid. So, I'm not allowed to entrust you with important missions as long as you haven't proven yourself as reliable. ... Palimuth: If you are willing to work for the city of Yalahar, you can ask me for a mission any time, be it night or day. You: Mission Palimuth: I hope your first mission will not scare you off. Even though we cut off our sewer system from other parts of the city to prevent the worst, it still has deteriorated in the last decades. ... Palimuth: Certain parts of the controls are rusty and the drains are stuffed with garbage. Get yourself a crowbar, loosen the controls and clean the garbage from the pipes. ... Palimuth: We were able to locate the 4 worst spots in the sewers. I will mark them for you on your map so you have no trouble finding them. Report to me when you have finished your mission. You: Bye
You can clean the 4 sewer spots in any order you like, it's best to use a different entrance to the sewer per spot, here is a map of these spots:

The following maps show the route's in the sewers, use your crowbar on the item Dyloslawer is facing at.

When you used the crowbar on here, a bubble beam will show up and a fish will fall on the stones.

You'll turn into a bog raider for a few seconds after having used the crowbar here.

A bunch of Cave Rats will spawn when you used your crowbar here.

You will turn into a skeleton once you used the crowbar here.
Return to Palimuth once you have fixed all the 4 spots.
Chatlog
You: Hi Palimuth: Greetings. You: Mission Palimuth: So are you done with your work? You: Yes Palimuth: Thank you very much. You have no idea how hard it was to find someone volunteering for that job. If you feel ready for further missions, just tell me. You: Bye
Mission 2: Watching the watchmen
Ask Palimuth for a mission.
Chatlog
You: Hi Palimuth: Greetings. You: Mission Palimuth: We are still present at each quarter's city wall, even though we can do little to stop the chaos from spreading. Still, our garrisons are necessary to maintain some sort of order in the city. ... Palimuth: My superiors ask for a first hand report about the current situation in the single city quarters. I need someone to travel to our garrisons to get the reports from the guards. Are you willing to do that? You: Yes Palimuth: I must warn you, the quarters are in a horrible state. I strongly advise you to stay on the main roads whenever possible while you get those reports. ... Palimuth: You'll find our seven guards at the gates of each quarter. Just ask them for their report and they will tell you all you need to know. You: Bye
The best way is to start at the Foreign quarter, you can find the stairs to that quarter west of the depot.

Now head for the guards, use this map for the routes.

Foreign Quarter: Here you will find Amazones, Crazed Beggars, Crocodiles, Goblins, Gang Members and Nomads.
Arena Quarter: Here you will find Tortoises, Pandas, Carniphilas, Terror Birds, Crabs, Centipedes, Snakes, Scorpions and Spiders
Alchemist Quarter: Here you will find Mutated Humans and Slimes.
Cemetery Quarter: Here you will find no creatures(IF you stick to the road!)
Magician Quarter: Same as Cemetery.
Sunken Quarter: Same as Cemetery.
Factory Quarter: Here you will find Larva's, Gang Members, Goblins, Amazones, Damaged Worker Golems and Crazed Beggars

You: Hi Yalahari: You: Mission Yalahari: You: Yes Yalahari: You: Bye
You must find some Alchemist Formula's and kill 3 plague bearers. The Yalahari wants you to give him the Formula's but Palimuth wants you to burn them on an oven.
This is the first mission where you get a choice between good and evil, following the Yalahari's order is the evil way and Palimuths ways are the good way. It doesn't matter which way you do because in mission 9 you have to choose which side you permanently join anyway.
Also, from this point onwards you can use the Gate Mechanism at the Alchemist Quarter. The Alchemist Quarter is the north-west quarter.

Go up the stairs and use the Gate Mechanism, it will teleport you to the other side.
Now follow this map to the first Plague Bearer. There are Slimes and Mutated Humans on the way.

Go down the stairs, Mutated Humans and Mercury Blobs here.

Go in the door and kill Diseased Dan.
Now go back up and follow these maps to the next Plague Bearer.

Mutated Rats, Mutated Humans, Acid Blobs and Mercury Blobs here. Go down the stairs at the end of the map, lots of Bog Raiders & Death Blobs here.

Go inside the room and kill Diseased Fred.

Now go back up the stairs and go to the building near it.

Down the stairs will be a lot of Mercury and Acid Blobs, go in the room and kill Diseased Bill.

Now you must get the Alchemist Formulas, you can find them in the northern parts of the Alchemist Quarter.

In the sewers are many cave rats, centipedes and some slimes.

After the red-knobbed door, there will be tarantulas, slimes and centipedes.
Go up the stairs twice and then you'll find Mr. West.

Head for the big arena in the middle, there are several jungle creatures here such as centipedes, spiders, terror birds, crocodiles, crabs and carniphilas.

Go inside, there will be gladiators here. Take the little stair north of the big stairs. There will be some gladiators here and possibly a mutated rat.

When you go down you will see another stairs that leads down, go down there, there is a nightmare scion, but don't worry it cannot attack you.

Chatlog
You: Hi Tamerin: Hello, what brings you here? You: Mission Tamerin: Why should I do something for another human being? I have been on my own for all those years. Hmm, but actually there is something I could need some assistance with. ... Tamerin: If you help me to solve my problems, I will help you with your mission. Do you accept? You: Yes Tamerin: I ask you for two things! For one thing, I need an animal cure and for another thing, I ask you to get rid of the gladiator Morik for me. You: Animal cure Tamerin: I heard about a far-away isle named Nibelor where you might be able to acquire such a cure. You: Bye
First go to the gladiator Morik, he is on the other side of the arena, follow these maps(only gladiators to face).

Go inside the room with the red-knobbed door and touch the armor, Morik the Gladiator will spawn.

Kill him and take his helmet. Now you must go to Nibelor in Svargrond to get the animal cure.

Trade with her and buy an animal cure.
Now return to Tamerin, with your helmet and animal cure.

From this point onwards, you can use the gate mechanism to enter the Cemetery Quarter.
You will get a Ghost Charm from the Yalahari, you must go to the Cemetery Quarter and place it on a certain spot to make tormented ghosts spawn, you must kill these but beware, they are immuun to physical damage so make sure you got some elemental weapons ready.
The Cemetery Quarter is the most north quarter, go to it and use the gate mechanism to get inside.

Now head for the centre of the church.

Here you will see a "strange carving"

Use your Ghost Charm on this spot, then tormented ghosts will spawn.

Kill them, every time you kill one, use their bodies on on the Ghost Charm, when you do this, more will spawn, keep repeating this process until the Ghost Charm turns into a Charged Ghost Charm. NOTE: When the charm get's charged, it can be taken by anybody, watch out for thieves!

From this point onwards, you can use the gate mechanism to enter the Sunken Quarter.
This quest is probably the hardest apart from the final mission, especially if you choose to do it the evil way. It's recommended to do it the good way if you are low level.
The Sunken Quarter is the middle east quarter.

Keep walking straight to the east, there is an NPC that will take you to the monument tower, that's the spot where you go underwater. Don't forget your Helmet of the Deep!
Mission 7: A Fishy Mission(good)
In this version, you don't have to kill the raid leaders, all you have to do is talk with a mermaid in the Sunken Quarter and ask her about the reason for the raids the quara causes.
Follow these maps to get to the mermaid.

Only quara constrictors here.

Also quara mantassins here.
Down the stairs in the last map, there will be 3 quara predators, 1 quara hydromancer and 1 quara pincher. Kill them. Then head for the building to the west

Inside this building is the mermaid.

Chatlog
You: Hi Maritima: Oh hello, visitor from the dry land. You: Quara Maritima: You: Bye

Mission 7: A Fishy Mission(Evil)
In the evil version of this mission you must kill the 3 quara raid leaders of the Sunken Quarter, on the road you will encounter many quara of all kind.
Once underwater you'll see the level below you contains 3 quara constrictors, kill them, then you must go to the west, you'll find stairs there.
It doesn't matter in which order you kill them.
Inky
Inky is the weakest quara leaders, a quara constrictor, however, he has the most quara surrounding his spawn. You can find him at the south east of the sunken quarter.

To get there follow these maps. In the first map, you'll encounter some quara constrictors.

Here there are also quara mantassins.

Down the stairs are many quara pinchers, quara hydromancers and quara predators.
When they are dead, take the stairs that head down, the stairs that go up only has 3 quara predators.
Here you will find Inky behind a red-knobbed door.

Kill him, he's like a normal quara constrictor.
Splasher
Splasher is a quara hydromancer, and the second strongest quara leader. He has the least protection of surrounding quara's.

Take the direct south stairs to get to him. Use these maps. In the first map, you'll encounter some quara constrictors.

Here there are also quara mantassins.

The best way, no matter what vocation you are, would be to lure the quara's 1 by 1 to the stairs and kill them individually, south of the stairs are 2 quara predators and 2 quara hydromancers, it's easier to kill them 1 by 1.
Once that's done go west and down the stairs, there you'll find Splasher.

Kill him, he's a bit stronger then a regular quara hydromancer.
Sharptooth
He is the strongest of the quara leader, a quara predator, he isn't protected by many quara though. You can find him in the north east corner of the Sunken Quarter.

Use these maps to get to him. In the first map, you'll encounter some quara constrictors.

Here there are also quara mantassins.

Down the stairs, there are several quara pinchers and possibly a quara hydromancer, if you walk a bit further into the building on the east, you'll find 2 quara predators andstairs which lead down.. Kill the quara and go down the stairs, you'll find sharptooth.

He can hit pretty high, have your healing or druid ready before going in.
Once you've killed them all, go back to the Yalahari and report.

From this point onwards, you can use the gate mechanism to enter the Factory Quarter.
You must get a food(good) or weapon(evil) matrix from deep inside 1 of the worker golem caves. After that you must use the matrix on a machine to finish your mission.
The Factory Quarter is south of the Sunken Quarter:

Mission 8: Dangerous Machinations(Good):
The cave that holds both the food matrix and the machine where to use it is this cave. The ground floor of the Factory Quarter is filled with damaged worker golems, larva's, crazed beggars, amazones, assassins, mad scientists, bandits, gang members and a lot of other weak creatures.

On the -1 floor you will find 2 damaged worker golems, a red-knobbed door, and stairs. There are 5 worker golems and the machine where you must use your matrix behind the red-knobbed door, you must first get your matrix.

Go down the stairs, there are 3 worker golems down here. Kill them and go south, and go down the stairs.

This floor can be rather hard, there is a total of 13 worker golems here, however it's a big place and it shouldn't be that hard to kill them 1 at a time.

Go to the encircled area on the map, inside this little room is a chest with the food matrix.

Now go back to the stairs and go up twice to the -1 floor.
Go through the red-knobbed door, but watch out, there are 5 worker golems here, the best way to kill them would be to block them like this.

Once they are all dead go to the machine in the middle north of the room and use your matrix on it.

Report back at the Yalahari.

Mission 8: Dangerous Machinations(Evil):
The cave with the weapon matrix is far to the east inside the Factory Quarter.

On the -1 floor you'll find 1 worker golem.

There are 5 worker golems on the -2 floor.

You can either kill or run them, the weapon matrix is east in the room.

Now go out of the cave and head for this one.

Down the stairs are 2 damaged worker golems, north you'll find a red-knobbed door, behind it is the machine where you must use the matrix and 5 worker golems.

The best way to kill them would be to block them like this.

Once they are all dead go to the machine in the middle north of the room and use your matrix on it.
